Esperanza Catubig is an independent filmmaker who has been acting professionally for over twenty years. Born and raised in San Francisco, she studied dance, music, and theatre at San Francisco’s Ruth Asawa School of the Arts and went on to graduate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX with a BFA in Acting. She has worked throughout the United States, in Edinburgh, Scotland, as well as in Beijing, China. After living and working in Los Angeles for eight years, she relocated to San Francisco to write and produce and be closer to family. Currently, she can be seen as “Doctor” in PRAY FOR RAIN starring Jane Seymour and Nicholas Gonzales, available on Amazon and VOD. Also, she can be seen in H.P. Mendoza’s critically-acclaimed film, BITTER MELON as “Jeannie.” Recent stage credits include: REFUGEE VOICES & Euripedes’ THE TROJAN WOMEN (Royce Gallery Playhouse, SF), DOGEATERS (The Magic Theatre, SF Premiere) as “Barbara Villanueva” and “Ka Lydia” and as “Hedda” in HEDDA GABLER (Bindlestiff Studio, SF). Recently, she co-produced a music video segment for New Art Media’s upcoming film, ASWANG (2019). She loves being a new mom and fundraising to support youth in the arts, managing the BJ Alisago Memorial Artistic Scholarship and the SF Bay Area Music for Kids Program, both projects of Theater Residencies, Inc.
